The investment is being supported by Invest Northern Ireland, which has offered £322,000 of assistance, part funded by the European Regional Development Fund.

AI was set up in 2010 to develop products for the Enterprise Content Management market and since then has undergone a period of significant growth on the back of its strong product range. The new R&D will enable the company to significantly enhance its product portfolio to support its strategy for international expansion.

Brian Dolaghan, Invest NI’s Executive Director, Business & Sector Development Group, announced the investment during a visit to the company. He said: “This investment in new jobs will deliver £480,000 in salaries to the economy and represents over 50 per cent growth in AI’s staffing levels in Northern Ireland.

“The expansion, together with the company’s decision to develop new products, will underpin its ambitious growth plan. It will allow AI to target new export markets in highly regulated industries such as financial services, oil and gas, and pharmaceuticals.

“The company’s focus on innovation has so far delivered a doubling in revenue year-on-year. The commitment to developing new products is driven by a combination of market testing, experience and customer feedback and should deliver further significant sales growth to AI over the next three years.”

Fergus McIlduff, COO, Automated Intelligence, said: “This support from Invest NI will allow AI to grow into larger export markets and significantly strengthen our capability. This will provide the opportunity for AI to provide unique industry changing solutions in a global market.

“We have been successful in taking a new approach to the information management market. We want to capitalise on that by building the company into a global entity, taking our model and adapting it to both different geographic markets and other industries. Our success to date and our growth programme indicate clearly our passion for building a company to be proud of, that will add jobs and value to the Northern Irish economy.”
