Job Description

Main purpose of job:

To manage the Finance function of the business and support Senior Management in sustaining further growth while maintaining strong business processes.

Main duties include: (but not limited to):
  • Financial Accounting: Responsible for producing and analysing year-end financial accounts and liaising with external auditors
  • Management Accounting: Responsible for producing annual budgets and estimates, monthly management accounts, weekly and monthly finance reports and cash-flows, monthly KPIs and any other ad-hoc reports as required
  • Experience in financial planning and forecasting
  • Credit Control: Responsible for the timely receipt of accounts receivable
  • General Ledger: Responsible for maintaining the General Ledger; setting up new accounts when required; ensuring reconciliation of control accounts; ensuring correct allocation of expenditure to cost centres
  • Purchase Ledger: Responsible for overseeing accurate processing of all supplier invoices and for their regular payment
  • Sales Ledger: Responsible for prompt raising of sales invoices for customers, processing of receipts and all aspects of credit control
  • Banking: Responsible for managing and/or overseeing all company bank accounts including company credit cards; ensuring adequate funds are available to meet the expenditure requirements
  • Grants: Preparation of Government grant applications and claims
  • Expenses: Responsible for overseeing, processing and payment of Employee Expenses
  • Taxation: Responsible for the completion of VAT returns and providing advice on compliance with VAT regulations as necessary; liaising with HR on all aspects of PAYE & NIC; liaising with external advisors in the preparation of the annual tax return
  • Payroll: Acting as the key point of contact for the outsourced payroll provider and completion of reviews of reports produced

Additional Information

Essential Criteria:
  • Qualified Accountant – CIMA/ACCA/ACA (or equivalent)
  • 2 years post-qualification experience
  • Experience of all of the following
  • Bank Account Reconciliations
  • Ledger Maintenance
  • Annual Accounts preparation
  • Budgeting and budgetary control
  • Report preparation and presentation to Senior Management
  • Financial forecasting and planning
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including the use of Formulas in Excel and competency in writing and presenting professional standard reports in Word.
  • Experience of using accounting software
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Experience in financial modelling
  • Uses a systematic approach to make efficient use of time and manage workload, prioritising own work to meet deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including excellent communication skills, both oral and written

 

Desirable Criteria:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy, Finance, Business or a related discipline
  • Experience in using Xero and Hubspot
  • Experience of Power BI use would also be an advantage.
  • Experience in dealing with INI grant applications
  • ‘Big Four’ Practice background
  • Experience of working in a customer focused environment and supporting a sales team
  • People management experience
