At the end of last year, Microsoft unveiled a portable data centre designed to move large volumes of information to Azure.

Two weeks ago, we announced we have been named as an official ‘Azure Data Box’ partner, one of just a handful across the globe.

Now we can reveal we were one of the first Microsoft partner’s in Europe to use the revolutionary Azure Data Box, moving a large UK Central Government Department to the Cloud.

The new Department was created by a Machinery of Government change in 2016. It wanted to transition to the Cloud from legacy repositories, ensuring all data was relocated to prevent risk of penalty or data loss.

We extracted over 26 TB of information from the Department’s platforms to be couriered to Microsoft’s data centre and uploaded to Azure.

Transferring terabytes, even petabytes, at a time, the Azure Data Box is a secure, quick and cost-effective way for our customers who need to move large amounts of information.

Automated Intelligence CTO Simon Cole said,

“Organisations with lots of information often have concerns that they are limited by resource or costs when it comes to moving to the Cloud. Our recent work with this Central Government Department demonstrates that this is the quickest transfer and upload service on Azure.

“As one of only a few Microsoft Azure Data Box partners globally, we can move large sensitive data sets securely via our end-to-end service partnership.”
